FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions I hear most from organizations hiring a nurse writer.

Hiring Me

How much do your services cost?

It depends on your needs, the size of the project, and what goes into it. A single patient handout is a very different project from a full set of website pages or a monthly newsletter. Please contact me with a few details, and we'll discuss your project.

Tell Me About Your Project

What do you need from me to get started?

What you need written, who it's for, and when you need it. Brand guidelines, existing materials, or examples you like are helpful but not required.

How quickly will you get back to me?

Within one business day. I read every message myself.

What happens after I reach out?

I'll review your details, and we'll schedule a time to talk. Then I'll confirm the scope and deadline before I start writing.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the assignment. Once we agree on a deadline, I meet it.

Do you offer revisions?

Yes. I revise as many times as it takes for the piece to be right for you. I don’t put an arbitrary limit on rounds.

Will you write in our brand voice?

Yes. I'll do it the way you want it done, and I'll ask if anything is unclear.

What if my project isn't clearly defined yet?

That's fine. I'll ask questions until we both know what you need.

Do you work with clients outside New York?

Yes. I work with clients anywhere by email and video call.

Expertise and Accuracy

Why hire a nurse writer instead of a general copywriter?

A general copywriter has to research your subject from the beginning. I've lived it. I know what patients ask, where they get confused, and how to explain things so they feel prepared.

How do you make sure your content is accurate?

I write from 30 years of hands-on clinical experience and keep content consistent with current, evidence-based practice. If it needs to match your protocols, I'll ask for them.

Do you give medical advice in your writing?

No. My content educates and explains, and it points readers back to their own care team.

Topics and Services

What topics do you write about?

Maternal and child health: pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum recovery, the fourth trimester, and newborn care. I also write about pregnancy loss, grief and loss, and hospice.

Do you write about pregnancy loss?

Yes. I write about miscarriage and stillbirth plainly and with care. I've sat with parents after the loss of their baby, and I know how much the right words matter.

Do you write medical research papers?

No. I focus on patient education and content for patients, families, and customers.

Can you interview our staff or patients?

Yes. I turn interviews into features and stories, and I've done this inside my own hospital.
